The big finale to our international competition

 

This year's competition has finally come to an unbelievable end. We made huge progress this year, with over 120 teams in 30 countries spanning 5 continents, we hit a milestone that no other competition has ever achieved in their first year. Our goal is simple: find the next big idea and help turn it into a reality, and in the process, show that students are more than meets the eye. This year's competition has, in our eyes, accomplished our goal and continued to exceed our own expectations. 

 

After a lot of judging and debating, our judges were able to choose 5 extremely innovative finalists, and ultimately a winner that was both innovative and revolutionary.

The Finalists

On October 19th, 2014 our 5 finalists presented in front of world class business experts in NYC. Each company put their best foot forward during their presentations, showing passion and tenacity. Listed below were our finalists:

 

CocoVia- a Coconut Milk Kefir Probiotic Drink containing the CocoVia AgeBloc formula that assists aging naturally. Targeted for people over 50, this company realized a gap in the market and acted. This delicious drink is a one of a kind.

Reach- If you've ever struggled to find the right song for the moment, you're not alone. The developers at Reach created an app that promises to help fix this problem. The secret is by allowing friends to share music with each other right from their phone. The bigger picture for Reach: Accessibility to any media file, not just through mobile, but across all synced devices.

SkychatSkychat isn’t the typical messaging application; it offers a brand new and more interactive experience for the user to communicate with his/her friends. By integrating a map feature, members are given the illusion of chatting from the sky. Skychat is ready to change the way we interact with each other using our phones 

Price ItPriceIt creates a space where consumers can get an understanding of what the demand price is for a product or service. Before, websites like Craigslist and Angie’s List provided biased representations of the market price because they only took into account what the seller is willing to perform the service for, not what the buyer is willing to pay. Just as the car industry has been revolutionized with the advent of online price quotes for cars, PriceIt will empower the buyers to demand a fair price for the products and services they are purchasing.

Tailgate Now- TailgateNow is a service that offers the avid sports fan a convenient method to tailgate prior to a sporting event. By providing fans with food, supplies (such as grills), and entertainment, the company reduces its customers’ pre-game responsibilities and minimizes the encumbrance of the tailgate experience.

Not only was their business plan spot on, but the company also innovated in a category that hasn't seen much innovation since it was invented.
